MMS is All Heart!

This afternoon was our school's first Pep Rally of the school year! We celebrated Fall Sports athletes, heard performances from musicians from Band and Chorus, and teachers + students played some silly games. It's these celebrations that bring our Mooresville Middle School community together in laughter and fun! 

Thank you, parents, for all your support of  Mooresville Middle School, our staff, and the work we do each day to help kids grow & learn! Have a wonderful weekend, Red Imp community!

Fundraiser ends on Tues. Sept. 29

Dear MMS Parents,

We are excited to announce that our students will be participating in a Chocolate Fundraiser throughout September! Be on the lookout for the Flyer that is coming home with your student.

A signed permission slip is required before your child can receive a fundraising box. Please review the permission slip, sign it, and return it to school.

*Our goal with this fundraiser is to add technology to our school campus and fund supplies & gifts for our students and staff in December during the holiday season.*  

Thank you for supporting our students and helping make this fundraiser a success! Your participation and support are greatly appreciated.

How to alert MMS of student absence:

The email address for parents to alert MMS about student absences is:


Parents can upload doctor's notes as well. This process helps to avoid lost excuse notes!
Ed. Opportunity request form
Note: Students may have up to a maximum of 3 days per school year excused to take advantage of valid educational opportunities. Prior approval from either the Principal is required. Absences that are classified as a valid educational opportunity will be coded as “excused” whereas others will be coded as “unexcused.”

To make a request for prior approval, submit the above form to the Principal two weeks before the absence(s). The student is responsible for completing all missed work in addition to submitting a Student Educational Assignment as approved by the Principal in order to have the
absence coded as “excused.” All projects are due within 5 days of the student’s return to school.

Come Support MMS Fall Athletes:

All are welcome to c'mon out to support our Red Imp spring sports athletes! The cost is $7 cash to attend any playoff game or you can also purchase tickets in advance by using this link (+$1 online service charge). Normal start time for fall events is 4:30pm. Here are the matchups scheduled for our Red Imp athletes next week:

Tue. Sept. 29 -- Softball + Football playoff games (TBD)
Wed., Sep. 30 -- Girls Tennis vs. Salisbury Academy (home)
Thur., Oct. 1 -- Boys Tennis vs. Kannapolis Middle (home)

MYA lacrosse open practices
Mooresville MYA Boys Lacrosse is having OPEN Fall/Winter practices for anyone interested in coming out! Check out the flyer above for more info!
 
Walking / Riding Home form
All students wishing to walk or ride bikes to / from school must have this parent permission form signed and submitted. Please print and return to the MMS main office.
 

Reminder: register for Infinite Campus Parent Portal

Reminder: Registration in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.  is required for all students attending Mooresville Graded School District this year. Future report cards, schedule changes, and progress reports for your student will require a Login to the Parent Portal to access.

Support resources for Students + Families:

Counselor Request Form: We wanted to share the Request to See a Counselor form with parents. (Students will have access to this link in Canvas as well.). Once a student completes the form either Ms. White or Ms. Buff (school counselors) will have the student called to the office. We're here to help! 

MMS Resources Form: There are several resources available to our students and families. If a student is in need of the following, a parent or guardian can complete the form linked above:
  • a weekend food bag,
  • a toiletry bag,
  • a birthday bag,
  • join Rainbow Kidz (grief counseling) - read more here, or
  • school-based therapy services (Children's Hope Alliance is the provider)
One big change this year is that we no longer have access to give out shoes to students. The program has been stopped at the company level. If this changes in the future, we will let you and parents know.

Crosby Scholars flyer for Iredell County
Dream big, Red Imps!

Our students had a great opportunity this past week to connect with representatives from Crosby Scholars Iredell County during lunch!

Crosby Scholars is a FREE college and career readiness program for students in grades 6–12, helping students plan, prepare, and confidently take their next steps toward their future.

We love seeing our Red Imps learning about the opportunities available to them and thinking about what their futures can hold!
