CTE 8th grade Field Trip Permission Form 

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Your student will have the opportunity to participate in an educational Career and Technical Education (CTE) Career Expo. This experience will allow students to learn about different careers, interact with vendors and professionals, and participate in hands-on activities.

Field Trip Information

Destination: Selma Burke Middle School, 167 Rinehardt Rd, Mooresville, NC 28115  (704) 658-2670
Date: Friday September 4th
Departure from MMS: Approximately 11:30 AM (after lunch)
Expected Return to MMS: Approximately 2:00 PM
Transportation: School bus
Class: CORE 2
*Students will eat lunch at school before departing for the field trip.

Transportation

Students will travel to and from Selma Burke using school-provided transportation. By signing below, I give permission for my child to participate in the field trip and ride the school bus to and from Selma Burke.

What Students Will Do

Students will participate in four different stations. Each station will last approximately 20 minutes.
At each station, students will:

• Learn about different companies and career opportunities.
• Interact with vendors and professionals.
• Participate in hands-on activities.
• Ask questions about the companies and careers they represent.
• Complete a field-trip activity sheet as they rotate through the stations.

Students will remain with their CORE 2 class and teacher throughout the event.

What Students Should Bring

Students should bring:

• Water bottle 
• Sun protection (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses)
• Something to write with (pencil or pen)

Important Information

The event will take place outdoors. Students should dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Students will use the outdoor restrooms at the event.
Students are expected to follow all school rules, remain with their assigned class, and follow the directions of teachers, staff, bus drivers, and event personnel.

8th Grade CTE Field Trip Update

Due to the current heat advisory and expected high temperatures, our 8th grade CTE field trip has been rescheduled to Friday, September 11. We would still like to have all permission forms completed by this Friday Sept. 4th. You do not need to resubmit if you already did.

We appreciate your understanding as we make this change to help ensure the safety and comfort of our students. We would still like to have all permission forms completed by this Friday Sept. 4th.
