AJ Davis, a 3rd grader at EMIS, is a shining example of the EMIS school values — Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Kind. Every morning, AJ walks into school with a big smile and a polite greeting for everyone he sees. His cheerful attitude and friendly voice brighten everyone’s day-especially when he helps with the morning announcements, a favorite part of the day for many! AJ is always ready to lend a hand, especially to our SRO Officer! He is his deputy in training! AJ is a friend to everyone and has gone out of his way to make sure everyone feels welcome and included. He consistently shows kindness and respect in everything he does. AJ is a true role model at EMIS! 

EMIS is happy to nominate Wyatt Martin, 4th grader, as Artist of the Month.  Wyatt always enters the art room with creative energy, respect for our projects, and an amazing sense of originality. Wyatt has been a member of our Art club several times, and seems to inspire others around him by embracing the projects & skills being taught. He is also always quick to help out in the art room. Wyatt is a joy to have in my class, and I look forward to seeing how his work builds and grows through the years. 

Mrs. Kim Killian has been an EMIS Eagle for some time now and held many different roles. She currently is serving as our EC TA. She is a true team player and always willing to help in any way possible. She loves working with students and helping them grow and succeed. She participates in all EMIS staff activities and exudes Eagle pride and enthusiasm in all that she does. 

The MMS Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed against six other teams through the fall at weekly two-mile races. This year both teams finished the season undefeated in conference competition. Additionally, they had the opportunity to race at Friday Night Lights - one of the largest meets in the Southeast - as well as the Pfeiffer University Invitational where the girls won and the boys finished second in their respective divisions. 

Scoring in Cross Country is simple. Like golf, lower is better. The top five runners on each team (the fastest finishers) score points equal to their finishing position. The team with the lowest total score wins. So, while it is nice to have one or two runners out in front of the pack, a team’s success is typically determined by the ability of their fourth and fifth runners. This year, the boys and girls top five never finished a race more than a minute and a half apart. 

The MMS season concluded with the Conference Championship at Ellis Middle School. The boys came in as defending Conference Champions, and clear favorites. They raced f irst and claimed four of the top 10 places. Next, it was the girls' turn to face the test as heavy favorites, having won all of their previous races by wide margins. They matched the boys with four runners inside the top 10.

MMS will look to continue their winning ways in 2026. If you see any of them running around Mooresville in the dark of winter or heat of summer, please give them a shout - or a honk - of encouragement and appreciation of their hard work representing our community. 

We would like to recognize Trena Williams, Payroll Specialist, for her achievement in completing the North Carolina Association of School Business Officials (NCASBO) School Business Management Academy Manager Certification program. 

From March through October 2025, Trena dedicated herself to rigorous professional development courses, mastering crucial areas such as accounting, financial management, legal responsibilities, and business office operations. Her dedication to this comprehensive curriculum not only enhances her individual expertise but also directly supports our district's strategic priority to recruit, grow, and retain exceptional talent. By investing in her professional growth, Trena has not only elevated her own skills but has also strengthened our entire organization.
