Next week is SPIRIT WEEK at Mooresville Middle!
Since next week is the last week before Fall Break, AND next Friday is our Quarter #1 celebration day w/ the Powderpuff Football game in the afternoon, MMS is holding a week-long Spirit Week! Each day of the week will have a different dress-up theme and if students dress up in spirited gear, their picture could be shared on the ImpTV news broadcast or social media! Here are the theme days:
Monday = Jersey Day (wear your favorite sports team’s jersey or uniform)
Tuesday = Twin Day (find a friend and dress the same!)
Wednesday = Rainbow Day (wear as many colors in your clothing as possible!)
Thursday = Opposite Clothes Day (clothes backward, inside out, mix summer/winter gear)
Friday = Grade Color Wars (6th → white / gray, 7th → red, 8 → black)

This past week began our MMS fall Chocolate fundraiser! Students received a flier of information about this fundraiser (link above to print another). Them selling delicious chocolate to friends & family could help them win some awesome incentives and fantastic prizes! For example:
Grade Level Top Seller: The top seller in each grade level will win a pair of wireless Beats headphones!
Sell 3 Boxes, Get a Gift Card: Any student who sells three full boxes will earn a gift card!
Teachers will send students who have a signed permission slip to the back of the media center (testing room) each day before school starts to claim their chocolate they’re committing to sell.
** Why does MMS do this fundraiser, you might ask?? These funds go towards funding Student & Staff Celebrations over the course of the year (ex: student holiday presents, rewards for A/B Honor Roll, staff mementos for teachers of the month, etc). This school fundraiser runs until October 8th.
Thank you, Red Imp families, for your support!

How to alert MMS of student absence:
The email address for parents to alert MMS about student absences is:
MMSAttendance@MGSD.k12.nc.us
Parents can upload doctor's notes as well. This process helps to avoid lost excuse notes!
|
|
Note: Students may have up to a maximum of 3 days per school year excused to take advantage of valid educational opportunities. Prior approval from either the Principal is required. Absences that are classified as a valid educational opportunity will be coded as “excused” whereas others will be coded as “unexcused.”
To make a request for prior approval, submit the above form to the Principal two weeks before the absence(s). The student is responsible for completing all missed work in addition to submitting a Student Educational Assignment as approved by the Principal in order to have the
absence coded as “excused.” All projects are due within 5 days of the student’s return to school.
