Some EOG "need to know"s....
- Laptops MUST be brought to school and should be charged each testing day.
-
Have students bring their chargers to school. Please note that MMS will NOT have chargers available for loan this time.
- Please help students get a good night's sleep the night before a test. Red Imps need their rest!
- Have students eat breakfast OR purchase breakfast at school. Red Imps need their energy!
- Even on testing days, we plan for students to visit at least one of their Elective classes.
- Students that DO NOT pass the EOG on the first attempt will all Remediate / Retest. There is no penalty whatsoever for students re-testing: their higher EOG score will be recorded in their school records. However, parents will have the ability to OPT OUT of retesting for their student (more details to come during the week of 5/12).
- Remediation / Enrichment activities will be provided for all students on 5/12 and 5/13, regardless of passing the first attempt or not. We expect all students to continue to learn and grow, even if it's only to prepare for next year!

School / Bus Safety Notices for parents - please read
Parents: we've seen an uptick recently in cars driving through the top bus lot (by gym) at dismissal time (2:50 - 3:00pm) when buses are loading students. This is a serious safety concern! Parents must use the main entrance and either wait in line or park in the front parking lot. Please do not cut through the top bus lot when buses are there, especially when students are crossing.
Also, a reminder from MGSD and the Mooresville Police Department: it is against the law to to pass a stopped school bus with lights flashing - we are still have stop arm violations daily and MGSD and the MPD do prosecute these incidents. Make sure you stop and keep our students safe.
Finally, if you're able / willing to drive a bus, MGSD is still looking for drivers! We need your help getting students to school safely. Thank you for your help!

This article (Checklist of Test Prep Strategies for Middle School Students) has OODLES of helpful tips for The Week Before, The Day Before, and The Day Of the big test!
For example: Day Before the Test
- Keep your afternoon and evening a relaxing one for your child. Have a quick study session but not for too long so that the brain can have a break and is not over exerted.
- Before bed, help your child prepare their materials for tomorrow so the morning is less stressful. Lay out clothes, pack bookbags and lunch boxes, and make sure an alarm is set.
- It is very important for your child to get a good night’s sleep the night before a test. A study from Ghent University said that “students who generally got a good night’s sleep performed better on exams.”
