Mooresville Middle School

A Message from Mr. Kosal:

MMS is All Heart! This is Mr. Kosal, proud MMS principal. Parents -- you need to know about some big changes to the MMS end of grade testing schedule! Our state has recently granted districts the opportunity to offer re-tests for EOGs during the school day and we're changing our testing dates to allow for that! The new End of Grade testing dates for MGSD middle schools are:

  • Thursday, May 8 --> Math 6, 7, 8 + NC Math 1
  • Friday, May 9 --> ELA 6, 7, 8
  • Monday, May 12 --> Science 8

On May 12 -13, our school will provide remediation and extra instruction / practice for all students that did not earn proficiency on their first test. And re-tests for Math & Reading EOGs will occur on May 14 - 16. There is no longer a need for summer remediation / re-testing in June.

Students who pass the EOGs on their first attempt will be doing enrichment learning activities and / or preparing for the following year's content. We are enthusiastic that allowing students the chance to re-take a test can help our students earn some confidence and a sense of achievement as they move into the next year. Let's show everyone how successful you can be, Red Imps!

Here's what you'll find in this week's newsletter:

  • School Dance is tonight! (Tie Dye theme)
  • Spring picture days are next week: permission slip required
  • * Updates to MMS Cheerleading try out dates
  • Upcoming home spring sports events @ MMS
  • Theater Arts performances coming up
  • MHS basketball camp sign-up
  • CTE summer camp opportunities
  • Launch for weekend: the importance of Sleep for teens
  • and more!

If you have any questions or concerns, please email our administration team or call the MMS front office.
