MMS is All Heart! 


This is Mr. Kosal, proud MMS principal. At this time of giving and reflection, I want to personally thank each and every parent, teacher, student, community member, and advocate for Red Imp students and staff. We only succeed because we're #All Heart together, each and every day. Thank you and enjoy winter break!

Fri Dec. 20th is an Early Release Day for MMS (dismissal @ 11:55am)


Share what makes MGSD & public school right for you:

Parents: are you willing to do a video testimonials about why you love their public school / chose MGSD? 


If so, please contact Tanae McLean, district communications director (tmclean@mgsd.k12.nc.us) and tell them you're from MMS. Ms. McLean is going to work in January to create a video of them to share on social media and around our community. 


The deadline to apply is January 10, 2025 -- thank you, Red Imp community! 



7th & 8th grade parent reminder:

This year, MGSD middle schools are running Science & Social Studies classes on a semester rotation. Starting in January 2025 (semester #2)...



  • 7th grade students will have Math, Reading, and Social Studies core classes;

  • 8th grade students will have Math, Reading, and Science core classes.


*Reminder that Science 8 is an End of Grade state-tested subject. Please reach out to Principal Kosal with any questions.

Varsity Basketball teams advance in Conference Tournament

We had a special group of wrestlers this season at MMS! There was a total of 20 eighth graders and 35 total students on the team.


Our wrestling team went 13-0 for our dual meet record and placed 2nd Team Runners up at the Tri-County Conference tournament which MMS hosted last weekend. Congratulations to all the medal winners -- Coach Petit is extremely proud of all of you!!

8th Grade students: Is an Early College Program right for YOU?

Collaborative College for Technology and Leadership (CCTL)

Crossroads Arts and Sciences Early College (Crossroads)

Agriculture & Science Early College (ASEC)  


  • Two years of college for FREE!!!

  • Complete 6 years of education (high school diploma AND an Associate’s Degree) 

in 4, 4 ½, or 5 years, depending on course performance

  • Smaller learning environment

  • Students can still play sports and participate in extracurricular activities. Fun events, too -- dances, prom, lock-ins, bake-gives, homecoming, dodgeball tournament, etc. -- events vary from school to school.

  • Transportation available to all Early Colleges through shuttle buses and shuttle bus stop locations throughout Iredell County. There is no door-to-door transportation.

  • Honors-level high school curriculum in all Early Colleges.

  • All Early Colleges operate on the Mitchell Community College calendar (start in early August and finish in mid-May)


Students have the opportunity to earn an Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Engineering or Associate in Fine Arts transfer degrees, as well as other degrees/certificates offered by Mitchell Community College. Families: we want YOU to help our growing PTSO team! If you'd like to be part of the awesome MMS PTSO, our next meeting will be Wednesday, January 8th from 5 - 6:00pm at Mooresville Middle School. We'll be discussing fundraising opportunities and how to support MMS during semester #2. Please mark your calendars -- all are welcome!!




How to alert MMS of student absence:

The email address for parents to alert MMS about student absences is: MMSAttendance@MGSD.k12.nc.us


Parents can upload doctor's notes as well. This process helps to avoid lost excuse notes!
