MMS is All Heart!


This is Mr. Patrick Kosal, your proud MMS principal. It was a great spirit week here at MMS! Please remember to follow our school on social media (Facebook, Instagram) for the most recent updates. With the winter sports pep rally, band concert, 8th grade Gateway projects, spirit dress up days, and ending Quarter #2 of school, there's been a lot going in our Red Imp community!

PTSO needs your help -- Teacher Appreciation Holiday Luncheon 12/17

Parents: want to support and / or give back to MMS teachers + staff this holiday season? Consider donating time or money to support the PTSO holiday lunch for Red Imp teachers! 


The links allow to either give donations to the MMS PTSO or sign up for a time slot to come say "thank you" to MMS staff members this holiday season. The luncheon will be held from 11:00am - 1:00pm at MMS on Tuesday, December 17th. Food items should be dropped off at the school by 9:00am that day.

MMS Chick-fil-A night - Dec. 17

Please join members of the Red Imp staff for our third MMS Chick-fil-A night of the year --- next Tuesday, December 17th.

Come visit Red Imp staff members at the restaurant at 457 River Highway (hwy 150 location) between 4 - 7:00pm.

Our school earns a portion of the proceeds for all orders (even drive-thru!) so if you need dinner plans on Tuesday night & would like to support the MMS Red Imps... EaT mOrE cHiKeN! See you on Tuesday, 12/17/24, Red Imp community.


Toy Drive 2024 @ MMS - ongoing until Winter Break

Starting Monday, November 4th, Mooresville Middle School will be collecting donations of toys for our 2nd annual toy drive to benefit the children at Levine Children's Hospital. Students will bring their toys to donate into their 1st period class, and the group with the most toys donated in our school will win a pizza party! The top classes of the other two grade levels will receive an ice cream treat, as well. Let's help bring a little Christmas cheer to those who really need a pick me up this season!!!

If so, please contact Tanae McLean, district communications director (tmclean@mgsd.k12.nc.us) and tell them you're from MMS. Ms. McLean is going to work in January to create a video of them to share on social media and around our community.

Varsity Basketball teams advance in Conference Tournament

On Tuesday, December 17, please come out to support the MMS Girls & Boys Varsity Basketball teams as they play in the 2nd round of conference tournaments. The games will be held at Erwin Middle School, starting at 4:30pm. Come cheer on our Red Imp athletes!


* All guests must pass through metal detectors / detection wands for selected athletic events.


* $6 admission to all conference playoff games + matches.


* Note: only clear bags are allowed to be brought into events.



Crosby Scholars deadline -- 12/20

Parents: have you heard of our partner program, Crosby Scholars? This is a TOTALLY FREE program to help your child prepare for their future!

Although your child is only in middle school, starting the conversation about college and career planning now can ensure that your student has many great options available to them when they graduate high school. Crosby offers students the opportunity to explore job/career options, community college, universities, and cost-effective ways to get there. Crosby also helps middle school students prepare for high school, learn new skills, and serve the community.

8th Grade students: Is an Early College Program right for YOU?

Collaborative College for Technology and Leadership (CCTL)

Crossroads Arts and Sciences Early College (Crossroads)

Agriculture & Science Early College (ASEC)  


  • Two years of college for FREE!!!

  • Complete 6 years of education (high school diploma AND an Associate’s Degree) 

in 4, 4 ½, or 5 years, depending on course performance

  • Smaller learning environment

  • Students can still play sports and participate in extracurricular activities. Fun events, too -- dances, prom, lock-ins, bake-gives, homecoming, dodgeball tournament, etc. -- events vary from school to school.

  • Transportation available to all Early Colleges through shuttle buses and shuttle bus stop locations throughout Iredell County. There is no door-to-door transportation.

  • Honors-level high school curriculum in all Early Colleges.

  • All Early Colleges operate on the Mitchell Community College calendar (start in early August and finish in mid-May)


Students have the opportunity to earn an Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Engineering or Associate in Fine Arts transfer degrees, as well as other degrees/certificates offered by Mitchell Community College. MGSD Student Code of Conduct link

This button links you to the MGSD Student Code of Conduct, where you can reference behavior infractions and consequences outlined by our district.

Reminders + New Behavior Expectations / School Policies
  • *NEW* 3 Minor write-ups in classroom per teacher, then 4th time = Office Referral + ISS consequences (see rule #1 of the MGSD student code of conduct linked above)
  • No running in hallways (lunch detention for time #1, further consequences such as ISS / Loss of Privilege if repeated)

  • MMS cell phone policy reminder (turned OFF and in student backpacks until 2:55pm)

  • Leaving class before your bus is called at dismissal (teachers will ask students for their bus #; if they are dishonest or leave class when bus is NOT called = lunch detention or other consequences

  • Walking off campus requires walking form signed and submitted to MMS main office (extra copies found in main office; paper must be signed by parent or else you may not leave campus)

Families: we want YOU to help our growing PTSO team! If you'd like to be part of the awesome MMS PTSO, our next meeting will be Wednesday, January 8th from 5 - 6:00pm at Mooresville Middle School. We'll be discussing fundraising opportunities and how to support MMS during semester #2. Please mark your calendars -- all are welcome!!



How to alert MMS of student absence:

The email address for parents to alert MMS about student absences is: MMSAttendance@MGSD.k12.nc.us


Parents can upload doctor's notes as well. This process helps to avoid lost excuse notes!
