Child Care Information

Hello MGSD families,

The State of North Carolina and the North Carolina Child Care Commission implemented emergency rules in order to give public schools options to provide care outside, or in addition to, the traditional school building, as well as give licensed facilities some flexibility to create and fill additional slots for school-age children to receive care while attending remote/online learning programs. We realize that we have many working parents and that Plan C is a challenge for those families; therefore, we have been working with local agencies to form partnerships in hope that we could alleviate some of the demands of being a working parent during this remote learning period.  One such partnership is with our local YMCA.  They will be providing care for MGSD K - 6th grade students at two school sites:  East Mooresville Intermediate School and Rocky River Elementary School.  Spaces are limited so if you need school-age childcare, please apply at this link:  https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/29c0598be40a47c09d8e894cd5dae137.  When signing up for this program, you will be signing up for full time care through October 16, 2020.  Please note, the signup for this program is done through the YMCA and any questions should be addressed to the YMCA.  The contact for this program is Ms. Danielle Crimi.  Her email is danielle.crimi@ymcacharlotte.org.

In addition, the YMCA may be able to open more sites if they can properly staff them.  Attached to this email is a flyer from the YMCA in case you are interested in working for them in childcare!  Again, we ask that you contact the YMCA with any questions regarding employment as you would be employed with them, not MGSD.

We hope all of our families have a good and restful weekend.  Thank you for being part of our district! :-)

In service,
